Creating Healthy Tomorrows

PRESENTER RESOURCES

Thank you for presenting at the SCP Annual Conference! As a presenter we ask that you complete this form.

Hybrid presentations:

All conference rooms will be equipped with laptops, cameras, and lavalier mics and staffed by trained student volunteers who will moderate virtual participation. If you plan to create virtual or hybrid breakout rooms in your session, please advise the SCP Conference Committee in advance by completing the form above.

This HBR article gives several tips on how to “nail” a hybrid presentation. The key points are:

  • Focus on the positives not the negatives of doing a hybrid presentation. How can you and your audience benefit from a hybrid presentation?
  • Ask virtual participants to turn on their cameras so they can be seen by all audience members and ensure that your camera(s) capture the in-person audience members too.
  • Make direct eye contact to both audiences. Look at the camera and speak directly to virtual attendees from time to time. Move around the room and to and from the camera to give the feeling of inclusiveness to all audience members.
  • For added engagement, mix the in-person and virtual audiences. You may wish to ask in-person audience members to bring devices to project their individual faces and be able to engage in breakout sessions with virtual attendees.

In-person-only presentations:

Please advise the SCP Conference Committee in advance if you must limit your presentation to an in-person-only audience. We prefer that you do not limit your presentation to allow as many people as possible to attend.

Poster presentations:

The American Psychological Association website contains helpful suggestions to create engaging posters as well as sample poster templates.
