The Madness of the Crowds by Louise Penny is book 17 of 20 in the series featuring Chief Inspector Armand Gamache, head of homicide for Quebec police.  Armand is not only a great cop, but he is also a great mentor/coach to many, and especially to those early career people who are not obviously great cop material.  He is a man of literature and philosophy and an inspiration to me as a reader and consulting psychologist.
Richly written and very engaging in mnd, heart and soul.
Armand is best known for advocating to his team 4 statements/mindsets that lead to wisdom. Very uncop-like things to think and say!

  1. I don’t know
  2. I need help
  3. I am sorry
  4. I was wrong
