Description:

This workshop is designed for experienced consultants who are looking to step into the diversity, equity, and inclusion space. What do you do when you are facilitating and say something offensive? How do you engage when someone says something that triggers an emotional response in others? Building on your existing skills as a consultant and group facilitator, you will learn helpful strategies and tips on promoting courageous conversations on race, privilege, and power with your participants on a deeper level. Through interactive exercises, we will practice working with resistance. This continuing education offering was created from the “Train the Trainer” series from Cultures Connecting. This workshop will provide 2 CEs, plus an additional CE for completion of pre and post-workshop materials, for a total of 3 CEs. If you are interested in the full Train the Trainer series, please see the Cultures Connecting website. Please attend on computer / laptop if possible, with cameras on.

Learning Objectives:

At the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Identify two strategies for creating an effective environment for acilitating conversations on race;
  • Analyze dynamics that lead to cultural tensions and conflict;
  • Apply two skills for handling common pitfalls and resistance when discussing race.
