June Town Hall

June 29, 2026
7:00-8:00 pm EST
Via Zoom Meeting

We invite you to attend a monthly one-hour Town Hall via zoom hosted by President Joanie Connell. This is an opportunity to come together as a professional community, to share your experience and discover that of other SCP members. Each month we will start with a topic of interest featuring some aspect of our society. We will then open it up to wider discussion of any topics those online wish to bring up.

Guest Speaker: Luciana Simion, JD, MBA, PhD (ABD)
Human at the Core: Ethical AI and Employee Well-Being in the Consulting Room

Description: Artificial intelligence is no longer on the organizational horizon. It is already embedded in how people are
hired, evaluated, scheduled, monitored, and even supported at work. For consulting psychologists, this shift raises urgent questions: When AI mediates the employment relationship, what happens to fairness? To trust? To the psychological contract between organizations and the people who work for them? Drawing on empirical research at the intersection of organizational justice, AI-mediated emotional labor, and ethical leadership, this talk offers consulting psychologists a theoretically grounded and practically actionable framework for navigating the ethical dimensions of AI in organizational life. Attendees will examine how AI systems shape employees’ perceptions of fairness and moral legitimacy, explore the organizational risks that emerge when efficiency is prioritized over ethical design, and leave with concrete strategies for advising clients who are deploying (or considering) AI-powered tools that affect employee well-being. This session bridges research and consulting practice, offering both a diagnostic lens and a set of tools for practitioners ready to lead more ethically informed organizational change.

BioLuciana Simion, JD, MBA, PhD (ABD) is a researcher, organizational consultant, and lecturer whose work sits at the intersection of AI ethics, organizational justice, and employee well-being. She serves as Fellow Researcher and Manager of the Justice and Organizational Behavior (JOB) Lab and leads the Applied AI Research Program at California State University San Marcos’s College of Business Administration AI Hub, one of the first initiatives of its kind in the CSU system. A member of SIOP’s Committee for the Advancement of Professional Ethics (CAPE), Luciana brings both scholarly rigor and applied insight to questions of responsible AI in the workplace. Her consulting practice has spanned organizations including Microsoft, ViaSat, and the University of California, Irvine, with expertise in leadership development, strategic alignment, and global well-being initiatives.
