April Town Hall
April 27, 2026 7:00-8:00 EST Via Zoom Meeting We invite you to attend a monthly one-hour Town Hall via zoom hosted by President Joanie Connell. This is an opportunity to come together as a professional community, to share your experience and discover that of other SCP members. Each month we will start with a topic of interest featuring some aspect of our society. We will then open it up to wider discussion of any topics those online wish to bring up. Navigating Differences: Creating Spaces for Authentic Dialogue Across Divides Join us for an interactive conversation on how to navigate differences more effectively and to engage in dialogue across divides. SCP Fellow Bernardo Ferdman, Ph.D. and dialogue expert David Campt, Ph.D., (co-founders of Community Dialogue Partners) will explore practical approaches to creating psychological safety, surfacing hidden perspectives, and building the "muscle" of cross-difference communication. Through live polling and interactive exercises, we'll examine how consultants at individual, team, organizational, and community levels can foster more inclusive and productive conversations, especially when the stakes are high. Drs. Bernardo Ferdman and David Campt will be our first Town Hall guests of this term and it’s a topic we can all benefit from. Bernardo Ferdman, Ph.D., Principal & Founder of Ferdman Consulting and Distinguished Professor Emeritus at Alliant University, is an executive coach, consultant, and organizational psychologist who helps leaders and organizations bring inclusion to life in everyday interactions, decisions, and systems, bringing a systemic perspective and grounded, human approach to leadership development and organizational change. With more than four decades of global experience, he focuses on how people navigate complexity, work across differences, and build environments where individuals can contribute fully and do their best work. Bernardo is widely recognized for his work on inclusive leadership and for framing inclusion as a practice—something we do moment by moment in how we listen, speak, and engage with others. He is an SCP Fellow and recipient of SCP’s Award for Excellence in Diversity and Inclusion Consulting, and has published and presented extensively on inclusion, leadership, identity, and organizational dynamics. David Campt, Ph.D. is a nationally recognized expert in dialogue facilitation, audience polling, and anti-racism allyship. With a career spanning over two decades, he has helped organizations, government agencies, and communities navigate difficult conversations around race, equity, and inclusion through innovative methods that foster understanding and connection. Known for his engaging and research-driven approach, Dr. Campt has pioneered techniques such as the White Ally Toolkit, empowering individuals (particularly White allies) to effectively engage in conversations that challenge racism and promote social justice. His work integrates real-time audience feedback tools and inclusive dialogue strategies to create transformative experiences that drive meaningful change.
