Real-Time Leadership: Paths to collaboration, connection and performance

    January 1, 2050 @ 8:00 am UTC+0

On-Demand CE Credits: 1.25 Cost: $29-49   REGISTER   Description The capacity to collaborate and create community is core to any organization that wants sustainable performance. A crucial quality leaders need is to be relationally and psychologically agile. As Victor Frankl described, between every stimulus and response there is a space, and in the space is our freedom. Real Time Leadership helps leaders not only make that space, but know what to do when they’ve found it. This framework provides a series of evidence based frameworks pulling from multiple theories and frameworks (technical eclecticism) to offer a four-component model for leaders and leadership coaches to increase sustainability and performance under pressure. The M.O.V.E frameworks include how to be: Mindfully Alert Create Options Generator Have the capacity to validate one’s Vantage Point and And Engage and Effect Enduring Change. Each of these components helps leaders to make choices that foster collaborative environments and high-quality relationships. These can be applied on an individual, team and organizational level. In the talk we will only focus on being Mindfully Alert and Options Generator. In this highly interactive presentation/mini workshop I’ll first describe the Real Time Leadership model. Mindfully Alert is the capacity to be mindful and centered but also highly alert like an athlete. Aware of what? We believe there are three dimensions of leadership: 1st dimension: What you need to do. 2nd dimenstion: Who you need to be 3rd dimension: How you need to relate. After describing these we will have an exercise exploring the participants strengths and areas to develop along these three dimensions. We then look at being an Options Generator. This work builds on Synder and Lopez work on WayPower and Hope theory. To be optimally relationally agile leaders need to have four set of choices available to them in any interaction. We describe these as four stances to take. These are to: Lean in, and be action oriented Lean back, and be data oriented Lean with and be people oriented Don’t lean, and be reflection oriented. I often share with the leaders I coach, I don’t care what you do, I care that you have all four of these options available to you and what you do is a choice. This is a high bar for all of us. Learning Objectives Participants will be able to: Be able to describe the four components of the MOVE framework and list two theories that support it. Apply the 3 dimensions of leadership to at least one leadership challenge scenario. Be able to articulate the four stances and connect it to the concept of WayPower Be able to engage and practice having a "10 of 10" conversation on relational agility Target Audience Psychologist Speaker   Dr. Kauffman PhD ABPP is known globally as one of the top leaders in the field of leadership coaching. Epic Fail…or Maybe Not: How Would You Handle These Complex Executive Coaching Case Studies?

    January 1, 2050 @ 8:00 am UTC+0

On-Demand CE Credits: 1.25 Cost: $29-49 REGISTER   Description Two seasoned executive coaches, each with 30+ years of experience, still encounter challenging situations that do not play out the way that they envisioned. Each will share a case study of a recent engagement, the methods and processes employed, and the outcomes achieved. With audience engagement, we will discuss lessons learned, define what success looks like in the specific situation, and generate ideas for alternative approaches to these clients. Learning Objectives Participants will be able to: List three different assessment methods employed in executive coaching. Describe the three phases of an executive coaching engagement. Review at least two ways to handle resistance and defensiveness. Discuss the importance of the roles of HR/the manager in an executive coaching engagement. Target Audience Psychologists Presenters Laura Finfer, Founder & Principal, Leadership Excellence Consulting I bring three key ingredients to each engagement: intuition, a grasp of organizational dynamics and humor. While the work may delve into tough, uncomfortable territory, I share my insights and observations in a direct yet sensitive manner. And context matters; the system and its culture shape what is (or is not) valued. This perspective is integrated into the work. Finally, a sense of humor creates an informal, appealing atmosphere. My goal is to build on the talents and accomplishments of the team/leader, elevating them to the next level of excellence. I am exhilarated by what clients achieve over the course of the engagement. I received a Ph.D. from Purdue University in Industrial-Organizational Psychology and am a licensed psychologist in NY State. Active in professional associations, I am passionate about female entrepreneurs and devote time to supporting their development. I also advocate for workplace inclusivity for individuals on the spectrum. With 25+ years of experience as an internal and external leadership expert, I co-founded LEC in 2008.   Katherine Bittner, President, Bittner and Associates, LLC Bittner and Associates, LLC was created in 2007 by Katherine L. Bittner, Ph.D. for the purpose of providing high-quality management consulting services and building strong client relationships. What distinguishes Bittner and Associates, LLC from many consulting organizations is the genuine care, warmth, and empathy Dr. Bittner demonstrates toward each of her clients, starting with the administrative assistant to the CEO. Our firm capably applies proven behavioral science principles to businesses. Dr. Bittner applies cutting-edge psychological and business principles to ensure accurate assessment, insightful coaching, and value-added management consulting services. Our passion and dedication to serving our clients’ needs result in many long-term partnerships and referrals. Bittner and Associates, LLC took a hiatus from 2011-2013 when Dr. Bittner, as an empty-nester, decided to do something different. She joined the prestigious management consulting firm Valtera (now CEB). After working in-house for almost two and a half years, Dr. Bittner decided to re-ignite her business. Being in a small business allows her to take the necessary time to perform high-quality, customized work herself and personally deliver it to clients. In addition, she hires the best and most competent independent psychologists or business professionals from her vast network when projects exceed her capacity. We consult with a wide range of commercial, government, and not-for-profit organizations as well as individuals. Typically, we serve mid-size to global organizations, but are open to discussing your needs if you are a smaller organization. In fact, we are a premiere boutique firm performing assessments used for both hiring and promotion, and development. We also have a rich history of developing and conducting assessment centers and individual assessments. The Endurance Leader: Leadership Longevity in a Fast-Paced World

    January 1, 2050 @ 8:00 am UTC+0

On-Demand CE Credits: 1.25 Cost: $29-49 REGISTER   Description The Endurance Leader is a new model of leadership that challenges leaders to move outside of their short-term, immediate goal orientation and expand what it means to lead at their best. At a time when research shows that stress (including work stress), chronic illness, and mental health diagnoses in America are at an all-time high (American Psychological Association, 2023; Gallup, 2023), our coaching clients and their organizations are in desperate need of new solutions. The Endurance Leader provides such an alternative; by borrowing from the thinking, practices, and support structures of endurance athletes, leaders can remain motivated, engaged, and productive for the long-term. This session will introduce participants to the Endurance Leadership four-part model and encourage learning more about each through case studies, small group, and large group discussion. In addition, participants will have time for reflective work that will give them firsthand opportunity to engage with the model and make it meaningful for themselves. Anchor Your Mindset: Understanding the importance of discerning one’s ideal mission/ideal self has been shown to increase activity in the creative and growth-oriented parts of the brain (Boyatzis, 2013) and increase intrinsic motivation (Cinar, Betkas, & Aslan, 2011). The session will help coaches bring Ideal Self activities into their client work and help them keep them alive through meaningful and sustainable plans. Excel in Execution: To help leaders maintain an endurance focus, they must continually train their mental and behavioral “muscles.” Using concepts such as Minimum Viable Effort (Fogg, 2018) and techniques consistent with successful self-reflection (Lanaj, Foulk, & Erez, 2019), participants will learn effective strategies for keeping leaders focused on long-term goals. Forge Discipline: Concepts such as Mental toughness, agility and learning from failure are critical to long-term leadership success (Cannon & Edmonson, 2005; Dweck, 2014; Krupp and Hogan, 2021) and are important for managing uncertainty which is often seen in disruptive and ever-changing work environments. Participants will learn new frameworks for these well-studied concepts, and explore new ways of bringing their relevance to their coaching clients. Leverage Support: Participants will explore particularly the efficacy of coaching, mentoring, and feedback (Kavussanu et al., 2008; Boysen, 2018) as well as the increasing popularity of wearable technologies and advancements in AI to help leaders manage their energy, effort, and focus. (Ruderman & Clerkin, 2020; Reitz & Higgins, 2024). Participants will also understand how gratitude practices are closely tied to long-term leadership success (Chen et al., 2017; Redwine et al., 2016), and the criticality of collaboration and community engagement to long-term personal and leadership outcomes. Learning Objectives Participants will be able to: Identify three business or intrapersonal reasons for a long-term leadership model in today’s business climate. Describe the four elements of the Endurance Leader model. Learn at least three cognitive or behavioral tools to help clients build a long-term leadership approach. Take away one skill or tool to use for participants’ professional or personal growth. Presenters Ann Bowers-Evangelista Ann ignites passion, purpose, and clarity in executives and teams to build long-term success.
